The day had been one of those hot, thundery, sultry days at the end on the summer in l956. My fiance and l (now my husband) had walked from Borley Green, up Bardfield Hill and were strolling along the road towards Finch Hill.

It was getting dusk and it was a misty evening; suddenly a car approached us from Finch Hill and in the headlights, some 50 yards away, what we both agreed was a girl in a white plastic mac with the hood up crossed the road in front of tie car and disappeared into the hedge on the right side of the road.

We thought there must be a gate at that point but when we reached the spot there was just thick hedge and no person to be seen. Having lived in Borley for over 60 years and never seen the Borley Ghost, did we see the Bulmer ‘Sprite’ of Brunden Wood that night.
